Our music groups happily welcome all new members, whether experienced musicians or beginning performers, so if you have not participated in music groups in the past, please know we love seeing new faces as our programs expand. There are no auditions for membership, just a willingness to serve God and the church community. If you are interested in being involved with the following groups, please contact Elaine Jaeke or myself.

Praise Band and Vocals

We are a group of vocalists and musicians from middle school through adult performing music in a Contemporary Christian style. We lead musical worship approximately 2 Sundays a month. This is an exciting and energetic group to be a part of, and we welcome all new members enthusiastically. Weekly practices are held Sunday nights at 7:00 during the school year, and we meet informally throughout the summer months.

Chancel Choir

We’re a mixed choir that has gorwn to approximately 15 members. We always welcome new faces! The Chancel Choir sings approximately once a month, September through May, at the Sunday morning worship services, as well as additional performances during Lenten/Easter and Advent/Christmas seasons. Every other year we perform an Easter or Christmas Cantata. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. beginning in the fall.

Children’s Choir

Children attending Norway Grove’s Sunday school programs have the opportunity to learn fun Christian songs during the Sunday school hour. We perform our songs for the congregation about every 6 weeks, and work hard on an annual Christmas program that we proudly present during a church service in December. We have added a 4th Grade Recorder Group that runs from January through May during Sunday school music time. This has been lots of fun for the kids and their teachers! (Donations of recorders or other small instruments are always appreciated!)

Spirit Chimers - Adult Tone Chimes

Participants are taught tone chime technique as well as learning and preparing a nice variety of traditional Christian music and hymn accompaniments in three octaves.  Performances are primarily during Lenten/Easter and Advent/Christmas seasons. Practices are held at 10:45 on Sunday mornings.  Join us in the fall!

Youth Tone Chimes

Practices are now under way for our newly formed youth tone chime group.  Students of all ages are invited to take part in this exciting musical opportunity!  Students will learn basic note reading and counting along with beginning tone chime technique on a brand new set of chimes that were donated to the church in the summer of 2011.  Practices are on Sunday mornings at 8:00 preceding the Sunday school hour.  Performances will be planned in the future as readiness allows.

Special Music Solo and Ensemble Groups  

Soloists and small groups regularly perform at our church services.  We are blessed to have several volunteer musicians who share their talents with the congregation and enhance our worship experience.  We also welcome student musicians to provide prelude, offertory and communion music.  If you are interested in performing as a soloist or as part of a small ensemble, please contact Jill Buchheim or Elaine Jaeke.
