May 13, 2020 Wisconsin State Supreme Court overturned the Wisconsin Stay At Home Order which was followed by Dane County Public Health issuing a Stay At Home Order. Unfortunately our government provides confusing guidance, which in a pandemic can unnecessarily heighten stress and anxiety.
NGMLC council team continues to meet a minimum of twice a month and we are following recommendation from Wisconsin Council of Churches (WCC), which has a goal and focus on reducing the chance of people becoming sick or dying from COVID-19. WCC works closely with Center for Disease Control (CDC), Wisconsin Department of Health Services (WDHS) and the World Health Organization (WHO), and it is with this scientific information that NGMLC council has decided to keep the church building closed. Worship continues to be online, and we are exploring “drive in parking lot” worship.
Personally, I am hesitant to give a potential date for re-opening the building. Mid-March when we first closed the building, I had hoped we would be gathering together by Easter, or shortly thereafter. As we continue to learn about COVID-19 and realize what we don’t know, NGMLC leadership continues to meet, pray and review trends, statistics and information.
During these months of uncertainty, I have clung to Jeremiah 29:11, “11 For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Eternal, “plans for peace, not evil, to give you a future and hope—never forget that.”~ The Voice translation
